Problem with dizziness, loss of vision, and tingling?
I'm nineteen now, but from the time I was thirteen I've had instances where the above happened. Most often it happens a short time after I stand up, but other times it has happened when I was simply sitting or standing without any real change in posture. It seems to happen more often when I'm out in hot weather. I drink plenty of fluids and I'm not over or under weight. What could be causing it?
I have been tested for anemia before and it came back negative.
My iron was high enough that I was allowed to donate blood a few months ago.
Honestly I would say it's quite a common occurrence amongst teenagers.
Between 13-16 I couldn't stand for more than ten minutes or make any quick movements without the whole room spinning and these symptoms setting in. I grew very quickly in a short space of time and it made me very anemic.
Generally speaking it's a problem with your blood, you probably have a lower than normal blood count which means less oxygen being carried around making you dizzy and suffering those extreme reactions.
If it is anemia it's pretty easy to spot, check the inside of your lower eyelid, if it's a light pink-white colour then your almost certainly anemic and my advise would be to increase your iron intake and make sure you're getting enough protein to help strengthen your muscles.
If you check and the colour is a normal dark pink-red then you should probably just check with the doctor to see what's going on.
