Or the largest size can be use is 320 GB? If so which brand is better, seagate or western?
Or there is a larger size that can be use?

I am currently using the Seagate FreeAgent Pro 1TB with my notebook. Works fine and has very a nice enclosure.

I can't say which brand is better, but Seagate offer 5 years warranty so i'm sold with Seagate. I bought the Pro version of FreeAgent line because it has e-Sata interface, what is likely to become the norm for notebooks (although my laptop doesn't have it :-) )

Correction for the answer above mine: the capacity of external drives has nothing to do with their portability.
