After taking DSLR Shots from a pro camera, when I upload on my Mac, all photos appear darker than the original I see from the LCD on my Camera. My Computer screen is adjusted fine,
even when i move to another PC, it all looks darker...
how to do rectify this.?
What I mean is that , I shouldn't be required to edit all my photos because all turn darker than the original. I would like it to be downloaded as I see it on my Canon 40D
Many possibilities. Since the camera LCD screen looks good, I'll vote for monitor adjustment.
From what I've seen, most computer monitors aren't adjusted properly. Images from a digital camera will, on average, look best if your monitor is set up for a gamma of 2.2. Gamma is a control that warps your contrast curve. There are web sites with gamma calibration charts. The next step is adjusting the gamma of your monitor which requires either adjusting controls on your monitor and/or your graphics card parameters. My crappy Samsung LCD monitor was really bad for viewing pictures. I had to do adjustments on the graphics card to get the gamma looking right because the display controls were designed wrong (the monitor was designed for office activities).
The camera's exposure could be off. Some cameras have a natural bias towards being too dark or light. What does the histogram say? If the histogram has a low number of pixels on the right side of the graph, then you are underexposing the shots. If this is chronic, then adjust your exposure compensation control to a more positive number, making sure you don't over expose your image (use the highlight or zebra stripe preview mode). You could also be metering wrong. Is your camera set up for matrix metering?
There are other settings on your camera that affect contrast.
Perhaps you need a image viewer that honors the cameras color space or you have the color space set up wrong in your camera.
You can try resetting your camera to default conditions.
Posting an image of what you think is too dark on your computer, but looks right on the camera screen is helpful.
