Can anyone tell me an easy way to play old Video 8mm tapes from a Handycam CCD-F56?
Originally, you played the tapes on the camera. However, this camera is so old it really doesn't work anymore. When you put a tape in, you can hear the sound but there is no picture. I've got dozens of 8mm video tapes that I need to get transferred over to VHS or DVD.
Most cities have a company that will transfer the tapes for you. Check in the yellow pages under videography. I work for one such company and the prices are pretty reasonable. Of course you could also get a new camcorder or borrow one from someone else. Another solution would be to get a deck that plays the 8mm tapes and has a USB or firewire connection to transfer to your computer. Depending on how many tapes you have, this may be cheaper than having it done professionally.
