How do I connect my Laptop to TV video via VGA cable?

I have a IBM T61 xp laptop with 15 pin VGA output. Can I connect a cable to that output to Sony TV wthich has white, yellow and red input pins. I bought a VGA to RGB video cable, but it doesnt seem to work. Any link to buy right cable?

You bought the wrong cable.

Do you know what those White, Red and Yellow connections are for? Respectively, Left audio, Right Audio, and Video.

Do you know what RGB stands for? Red, Green Blue.

The cable you bought separates the VGA to it's main components.. which is why that style (RGB) is called Component Video.

You need Composite Video. That single Yellow connection. Composite is where all those individual connections (15 pin VGA) are combined into a single signal (that simple Yellow connection).

You need a VGA to composite video converter.

Sorry, the process is too complex for a simple little dongle thing. It actually takes a box-like device similar to this. Next time, read up on what you need before you buy it, instead of just looking at something and assuming it is what you need.
