Sensing Leds
What color would I use to appeal to rod sensitivity?
I am trying to use a flashing LED display that appeals to peripheral vision. In the eye, rods are positioned peripherally and are thereby the biological sensors which I need to appeal to. Since rods are sensitive to black and white I am able to use black and white LEDs to do this particular task, however I have heard that rods are also sensitive to other light frequencies. I was wondering first, if you could tell me whether my approach to this problem makes sense and second what colors (other than black and white) I would use?
Rods are not color sensitive. They're responsible for night vision, motion detection and peripheral vision. The webpage below has all sorts of details on the light frequencies and responses of rods and cones.
