How can I find the base of a right angle knowing the angles degrees, and height without using sin, cos, tan?
I'm trying to find out if there's a way to get around using sin, cos, and tan to solve equations concerning right angles.
The question at hand is
You're looking up at a window 18.3 ft (above your eye level) at a 30 degree angle. The right angle is a 30 degree, 60 degree, 90 degree angle. How far are you from the building?
use 30-60-90 triangle theorem
it states that if the side opposite the 30 degree angle is x, the one opposite the 60-degree angle is x times sqrt3 and the one opposite the 90-degree angle is 2x.
Therefore you are 18.3ft times (sqrt of 3) away from the building
