How can I still get HD channels from my TV?
Ok I have a HDTV with a quad band tuner that gets me free HD channels of the basics (CBS, NBC ect). If I hook up my cable digital box up I lose these channels. Is there a way I can hook up the digital box and still get the free HD. I was thinking I should split the cable off the wall run one to the digit box and the other to splitter to bring the split signal back to one and bypassing the digital box with one the other. Any other ideas will my idea work?
It sounds like you're talking about the QAM digital channels that you can receive via the cable with no box. If so, this is quite easy. Just connect your wall jack to the input of a 2-port splitter. Output port #1 goes to the input of your cable box. Connect the cable box output to your TV via an HDMI cord or component cables. Select that input with the TV's remote to watch channels off the cable box.
Connect output port #2 from the splitter to your TV's antenna jack. Select that input with the TV's remote when you want to watch the QAM channels. No problem.

Followup per David's answer: that suggestion (connecting the cable box auxiliary antenna out jack to your TV's antenna jack) won't do what you want, which is receive the QAM channels on the cable. The cable box aux antenna out is fixed on analog channel 3, so only your TV's analog tuner is going to react to it. Moreover, the channels delivered to that jack by the cable box are only the channels that are included in your digital channel package, which you individually select with the cable box remote. You cannot receive and select the QAM channels that way.
