Are people of Dubai upset after discovering the loss of their privacy?
The investigation of Al-Mabhouh's assassination has given a glimpse of how dense is the CCTV network in Dubai, and how every person can be tracked and followed.
Do the people of Dubai feel safer, or bothered knowing that?
I appreciate your answers so far.
The problem I see is when the same means that are rightfully used to investigate major crimes, are used for minor offenses, just because it's technologically possible.
For example - in a public garden near my house the city policy has installed a security camera. In the few months that passed, in two separate incidents, the police arrested two people for smoking pot there at a late night hour. Now - smoking pot is Illegal, but I'm absolutely sure that a person rolling his own "plain" cigarette and smoking there will be taken for questioning just because it *looked* like he's doing something illegal, and because the cops are eager to the technology.
Most countries of the world have installed security cameras on the streets etc. it has become normal practice. In public and in most malls, shopping centers etc. they have them. I was surprised to see the picture they took of him in the lift though! Looks like they have cameras inside those too.
