Camera Package

I accidentally cut a piece of CD off when opening the package to my new digital camera?
It's a small chip with a small crack, and it's on the outside edge. Can i put in a computer to see if I can install the camera software, or is it a goner?
I would recommend not using the cd. CD's spin at a very high rate in the disk drive and if damaged it could compromise the integrity of the physical disk and cause damage to your disk drive. Depending on what kind of software is contained on the disk you may be better off seeing if you can download the software from the manufacturers website. Drivers and certain software are normally available online along with user guides. Good luck!
